Grieving for what once was

Grieving for what once was…

“I’m 76 years old and grieving for what once was. What should I do?” was a question I answered on Quora.

Homepage Topic 1 imageWell, I’m a few years ahead of you at this point in my journey. Last year (2024) the love of my life passed over. I miss her physical presence enormously. And in context I’d say I’ve learnt a lot about grief and grieving, and of Love in a very short time. I’ve experienced seeing other family members pass over but this was so sudden and hit me like a ton of bricks…

Meanwhile, I’m in remission from cancer. I look after my body, I’m more gentle with it than I used to be. I keep physically active though, and I still work-out. I get out and about. I keep a check on my diet. I have work that keeps me involved with my world, and I sleep well – most of the time.

I try not to dwell too much on what has past. I know it’s unavoidable when dealing with a loved one’s effects, and the memories whether wonderful or not.

But, I’m okay with my life and here’s the reason why…

I know I will see my loved one again – and indeed all my lost family members. I’ve already had messages from some of those I love… Have a read of this article written by a lovely lady…

We are not bodies with souls. We are souls with bodies. There is a difference…

And, in context, this is what I firmly believe: Our physical body is a vehicle for our soul to get around in. I call it our “Earthsuit.” It does a great job in helping us to experience the physical world, but it is only ever our home on a temporary basis.

If we are fortunate enough to live into our 70s and 80s I’d say we are doing really well. But no matter how long we live or go on, our Earthsuit will eventually wear out and fail us. We are not meant to stay forever in this physical situation. And like a car that has had its day, we stop driving it and respectfully leave it. We move on. We come from a higher frequency where love abounds, our natural home.

While there is still time here, I’d encourage you to look into why you came here. What did you come to learn and experience? Have you progressed in your spiritual awakening?

Perhaps study one or two of the books I’ve listed here.

Anything that helps further your understanding of what is really going on in our lives on this beautiful Earth.
