Aquarius Star Sign
If you were born between January 20th and February 18th, you were born when the Sun was passing through Aquarius.
Aquarius is represented by the Water Bearer.
To get some insight into this image, think on water being nourishing and essential for life; and what the role the bearer, being human and a thinking being, provides in this nourishing process. The latter is why Aquarius is an Air sign rather than a Water sign.
If you are a typical Aquarian you are likely to be intuitive, communicative, and individualistic. You will be motivated by a sense of justice, fairness and freedom.
You will tend to have a contemporary, unconventional and progressive outlook on life, having enthusiasm for what is new, current, original and innovative.
There is going to be something eccentric or unpredictable about your nature. It may manifest in your style of dress, in your interests, the hobbies you pursue, in your cultural orientation or indeed your work.
As a typical Aquarian you can be highly inventive and creative and will often be found in areas where new ground in ideas is being opened up .
For instance, I would not be surprised to discover you are interested in the arts, sciences and technology, in gadgets and inventions.
At a higher level it is really getting involved in something that supports the emancipation of people at some level. Aquarians are likely to seek a cause to get behind, and will often get involved in social and political movements, concerned with freedom and justice. Aquarius is a truly humanitarian sign.
Considering your relationships
As an ideal Aquarian, in relating, you will tend to be sociable, friendly and accepting of people. You’ll have a tolerance and understanding of other people, and you are well capable of perceiving what people really think and feel.
Close relationships can be a different matter. Conventions can go out of the window – as to who wears the trousers, for instance. In other respects you can be emotionally guarded and detached. This is sometimes misunderstood as coldness or aloofness, whereas it can be that you find it difficult to be intimate – friendly yes, intimate not so easy.
You will value your freedom and independence. But, that said, in the ideal, no less value the freedom and independence for others and those you care about. You’ll tend to treat others as equal to yourself and are more inclined to look for a kindred spirit, a friend than a lover in your partnerships.
Taking a look at your likely vocational interests
At some level, the ideal Aquarian needs to be involved in helping to bring about some kind of change or revolution – often a seeking to emancipate, or ease, the lives of people. This is more probably done through social interaction, through innovation, the exchange of ideas, through use of intuitive powers. But it could equally be through the use of new technology, and/or both.
Interests are likely to link to education, social reform, environmental matters, the sciences and technology, and the more way out, like space exploration or the development of AI.
And what about your challenges?
Taken to extremes, the Aquarian nature is inclined to be over-reactive, rebellious, tactless and erratic in behaviour. Indeed, the sign can be associated with extremists, people with an axe to grind.
Alternatively, the Aquarian can be inclined to do things to shock, for affect, or because they want to appear different for the sake of it, to make a fashion statement let’s say.
So, the typical Aquarian may be challenged to raise their self-awareness to a higher more humanitarian and compassionate level.

A reminder…
I hope you have found the above comments helpful. But, here’s a reminder that your star sign can only ever provide a useful but very incomplete overview of what makes you tick.
To better understand yourself, through astrology, you need to get hold of your birth-chart.
Your birth-chart (or natal-chart), set up for the time, date and place of your birth, will include all the major planets, zodiac signs and astrological houses, to provide you with a huge amount of insight into your life’s potential.
You will find websites that offer this service – some are for free too. I assure you this will be an adventure – certainly a bigger adventure than just relying on what sign the Sun was in when you were born.
And note, this is why when reading through your star sign I use the term “typical.” It is because you will only be typical of your sign if other factors, such as the position of your planets, support it.
I wish you well with your adventure…
