How will astrologers explain the contradiction that thousands of people born at the same moment of time, and hence carry same birth charts, still do not have similar lives? A question I answered on Quora.

Speaking as a Western astrologer, I don’t see any “contradiction” here – other than in the assumptions made of astrology by the question.

Those “thousands of people born at the same moment of time” would also have to be born in the same place, town or city, to have the same birth-charts. That is highly unlikely.

Besides, this is the same argument as how astrology works for identical twins, being born minutes apart and growing up to lead different lives.

From my perspective this is simple to explain. An astrological chart represents the Time situation a soul enters into. It does not represent the soul, only their potential for this life.

One might still expect similarities and correspondences between people with essentially the same birth-chart but it doesn’t have to follow. The astrology I adhere to is not based upon the idea that birth-chart component A must have a predictable outcome X, in interest, attraction or behaviour. There are variable outcomes to all.

Mars in Scorpio does not necessarily mean the person will become a martial artist. They might! Or they might become a surgeon – or many other possible outcomes. I’ve applied it to working in metal, to archaeology and astrology.
