Lucky escapes or intervention
by Francis O’Neill
Do you believe in lucky escapes or intervention – by possibly guardian angels?
I certainly believe there can be a helping hand in times of crisis, and this may be due to a guardian angel or other intervention – and possibly linking in to whether it is your time to go or not.
Lucky escape or what?
What made me think about this matter of lucky escapes or intervention was an odd event that happened to me quite a number of years ago when driving a car at high speed along a country road.
Let’s be frank I was being pretty stupid driving at speeds around 90 mph going downhill on a (admittedly very quiet) bendy road. It was in the early hours of the morning and I was heading to my then home in Leicestershire, UK.
I knew the road, and I knew the bit I was about go down where there was a fairly sharp right-hand bend and the camber fell away in the wrong direction. It could be dangerous and I was approaching it a little too fast. I braked and then it happened..!
Lost control of the car
My driver side rear brake seized and sent the car into a spin – down the hill.
It must have spun possibly one full turn and then some. As you might anticipate, at this point I was no more than a passenger to the event.
The car next veered out of the spin, possibly still doing around 40 mph, and now heading across the narrow road towards the stone wall of a field. This was at a time when there was no obligation on one to wear a seatbelt, and I didn’t have one.
I could see it coming. There was no time but to brace myself for the impact.
To be honest in that moment what flashed through my mind was nothing spiritual rather what a mess I was going to make of my car, and myself, and how the hell I was going to get home, 10 miles away.
Suddenly, as if someone else took control, the car was turned away from heading towards the wall. It then slowed up to nothing, and next gently glided to a stop on the roadside edge. The engine and lights turned themselves off and then there was silence…
It was as if I had chosen to park up on the roadside for going back in the direction I had come from. I collected my senses. Hey I was alive and in one piece! I took stock of what had just happened.
After a short while I got out, checked the car over. Everything was fine, and it too was in one piece. I got back in, the engine started fine, the back wheel brake had cooled and now working fine again. I turned the car around and continued on my journey – homeward bound – with a big sigh of relief and a big ‘Thankyou,’ let me tell you.
Okay, my story was just a forerunner to the main event. Whether you think my story was ‘intervention’ or a bit of a ‘lucky escape’, it doesn’t even come close to the escape coming up below.
An amazing escape…
What follows is an interesting, even breathtaking couple of photos. Be sure to read the caption below the first picture before going to the second one.
Look closely at the first photo. Take your time. Then scroll down!
Look at the picture above and you can see where this driver broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert, where the people are standing on the road, pointing…
The pickup was travelling about 75 mph from right to left when it crashed through the guardrail.
It flipped end-over-end, bounced off and across the culvert outlet, and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert, facing the opposite direction from which the driver was travelling..
The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises.
This reportedly happened just outside Flagstaff, Arizona, on U.S. Highway 100.
Now zooming out, take a look at the second picture below…
I think we can say (angel or not) ‘If it ain’t your time to go, it ain’t your time!’

Here’s a thought: If you have experienced some kind of lucky escape or believe you have been on the receiving end of angelic intervention when in a tight spot, why not tell me about it below…
