Dare to Dream
Do you dare to dream, have a dream of something you want to accomplish or do? Have you started it yet? Why not!? Is it because you’re scared to pursue your dreams? As Walt Disney said,
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Our society, circumstances, and surroundings often tell us what we must do and who we must become. However, too many people fall into the trap of doing what they don’t want to do.
We are told to take jobs we hate because it’s safe. We are told to go to college because we will be unsuccessful otherwise. We are told to pursue a certain profession because our families want us to. [ Dare to Dream ]
From suffering through all three of these circumstances, I quickly learned that you couldn’t let other people dictate your life. You have to be in control of your own passions and dreams.
Find your own path
Don’t live the rest of your life doing the things you’re going to regret when you leave this world – for as Tony Gaskins says,
If you don’t build your dreams, someone will hire you to build theirs.
You are constantly going to be bombarded with opinions. Opinions from your family, friends, co-workers, counselors, and others, but it is ultimately up to you to make the decision that is right for you.
When you make decisions based on the opinions of people around you, you are living for them, not yourself. The key to an authentic life is to make choices that make you happy.
Mistakes and failures – par for the course
Through the course of pursuing your dreams, mistakes and failures are almost imminent. But failure cannot stop you from doing what you love. Failure doesn’t define you or what you’re trying to accomplish. Failure is an event, something that happens at a moment in time.
Embrace failure and use it to learn. Failure leads to progress, which ultimately brings you closer to your end goal. Life isn’t always perfect or a seamless journey. However, your life is the one thing that defines who you were and what you did. [ Dare to Dream ]
Live with purpose and work towards something amazing
Live a life full of purpose and work towards something that will live longer than you. People die, but dreams live on. Create a legacy for the world to remember you by. Will your children’s children tell stories about who you were and what you did?
A life full of purpose is a life worth living over and over again. If you’re not happy with your life, change it. Do something that makes you happy. If you feel like a robot going through the motions every day, you need to make a change now.
Everybody dies, but not everybody lives. Living is not just breathing, it is much more than that. It’s pursuing your dreams. It’s about having the courage to go out and get what you want instead of waiting for it to fall into your lap.
Anything in life can be yours if you’re willing to pursue it. Don’t wish on stars or hope it will just show up because it won’t. However, if you work towards your dreams, it’s just a matter of time until you achieve it…
Go on – dare to dream!
